One of Melissa’s specialties is using EMDR therapy to support you. EMDR Therapy, is a method of therapy for processing both large and small traumatic or negative experiences. It works amazingly for assisting in moving through daily anxiety, relationship stress, depression, feelings of floating without a clear plan, loss of someone or something important, role changes, and much more.
Although you may not realize it, many of your daily reactions to things are impacted by logged ‘beliefs’ you have about yourself and the world. As powerful as our brains are, often these beliefs have been miscoded due to earlier negative experiences and as a result magnify our response to current things happening in your life. We call these “triggers.”
When the processing of a memory is completed through EMDR Therapy, the memory no longer has the same negative emotional charge. You can and will remember the memory, but it no longer feels traumatic. When you are reminded of the trauma in your everyday life, it does not cause the same traumatic reactions and feelings. It is important to note, you don’t have to have an identified memory that you want to work on. If you have a current distressing situation you want to create movement on, EMDR can likely help.

The process of a structured couples or family session can make large impacts to improve relational functioning within a safe environment. Written plan delivered after the first session. As parents, we all reach a point where we need a little help. If you feel like you have tried everything and can’t reach or impact change, or feel like they are dealing with something you don’t know how to support, we can work together to get a plan in place, delivered to you after the first session.
